Hey
I'm new to 365 this year, and although I love to take pictures, I'm a novice when it comes to processing and using different styles etc!!
I've been using Picnik but play it safe really and stick to black & white/focal soften etc, so I've been playing around with the different effects, this is what I've come up with so far, what do you think?
Also, I thought it'd be great for all us newbies, if you posted a pic with your favourite effect? Give us tips with the processing
Thanks guys :) Look forward to seeing all your fab piccys!
This one - the first pic is the orignal, then going clockwise I used neon, pixelate and sketch
Best tip I can give is to just play! I had a month when my camera was broke. I spent the month just playing with edits. Seeing what went together, what didn't, and just playing.
I'll see if I can dig up my favorite edit of all. I'll be back =)
This is one of my faves. If I remember right, I used a texture and blended it in to help pop the petals out some. Textures can be very fun (and addictive).
these are two i did at the beginning of my project with a little bit of picnic magic
the first edit was b&w and HDR
the second i think was just soft focus
they remain my favourite edits
Here is my one from today--
What does the future hold?..

The glowing future lies unrolled.''

@jennalou That's ok! We're all here to learn. I've no idea how you cross process in Photoshop because I don't have it yet, but I use www.picnik.com and it's one of the tools in "Effects". Just the simple click of a button will apply CP to your pic, but then you can turn it down if the full effect is too strong for your particular photo.
I think it may be a Premium tool though, but that's only $20/year. Best $20 I've ever spent in my life though!!
@jennalou you should check out gimp.org its a free photo edit software like photoshop and there are tons of tutorials you can google. I was using picnik and switched to this and it took some getting used to but its easy once you play with it for a bit and i love it!
btw: thanks that's one of my favs i have taken so far.
Done is Photoshop. Save a black and white copy of your image, copy it then paste it over the colour image. Use the eraser to erase the area you want to show colour in. (there may be an easier way to do this but this is the only way I know)

Lomo
Mix of HDR and some others. There is some cross process as well. It started off as a natural light shot.
I also should add... I'm not a fan of HDR, but that one of yours is definitely pretty!
and to turn the light yellow on these Sydney harbour gulls..
