Focal length for selfies & portraits...

This explains why I was getting so many ugly pictures when I was battling with my first-attempt at a selfie a few days ago... I eventually got something reasonable... but for my next attempt I'll definitely be trying some alternate focal lengths!

Great find. I've read that fixed focal length lenses of 85mm - 135mm are best for portraits. Someday when I win the lottery I'll get some.

that is the reason why phone photo or alike look like bubble heads. :)

When I do portraits I use a 100-400mm lens because of the reason stated in the article ( I also use a long lens as I like the compressions it has).

When I do selfies as I do for this project, I am normally at the 80mm or greater and only use something smaller if I want to use the lens effect or I have not other choice.
