What do they mean by this?

I'm just an amateur/hobbyist photographer, but I like to submit my photos to local juried exhibitions for fun. Lately they've been asking for "Process/Print Type" on the entry form... what do they mean by that? I'm sure that's a total n00b question, but I really have no idea what to put. They're all digital upload entries, so for the most part none of my submissions have been physically printed (yet). The couple of times I have been selected for these types of things I had my photos printed at CVS and then I framed them myself... I'm guessing putting "CVS 1 Hour Photo" won't look so good on the entry form, LOL.

A 'quick guess' would be that you edit to a standard print size with a good number of pixels to that size. I recommend looking at a good printers web site to see their requirements. hope that helps : )

The process probably refers to film, as in some of them it's C-41 processing---it says it on the film canister. I assume that they use this form for both types of photography, digital and film. Lots of people are going back to film, myself included, or maybe it's just always been on the form so they've left it in case of those rare times that it's film.

@polarvrtx I agree with @5unflow3r . Sounds like they are asking for the film process (E-6, C41, Bleach Bypass, Push process, Slide to Print, etc.) With digital, it doesn't matter if you're sending a print in. If you were sending a file in, they may mean 300dpi, a specific compression, etc. They wold tell you how they would want it formatted if that was the case. Good luck!

@cluvlj @5unflow3r @lorraineb Thank you! Yes, normally they do ask for a specific size and resolution, and that part I can do. I think I'll just put "Digital" and hope that speaks for itself.

@polarvrtx Also, if you did a special post process, may not hurt to add that too.

ha ha, one hour print....lol

yeah just put digital/glossy 8/10 or something like that, or matt or whatever info you can get, the manufacturer will be printed on the back of the photo print, like fujifilm or kodak papers. good luck with the win!

One of my photos was selected for one of the exhibits! Well it's sorta an exhibit. The local art center selected a number of photographs to sell at silent auction at a fundraising event, and they chose this one of mine:

I'm thrilled! I might have to buy it myself, LOL. I hear about the other juried show on Monday. Fingers crossed!
