Help with some editing.

May 5th, 2012
I took some pics of my daughter in the park today jumping off the beam. I love them but there are some wires and stuff in the background. Can anyone help take them out? I don't know how to do it. There is one shot they don't appear in. It looks great but I think these jumps are better. Thanks so much.

(Also would love to know which one you like better)

I edited the first one using a clone tool.

@tigervolleyball That's awesome Lauren. Thank you so much. Is that in photoshop?

I would leave it all in, to give some sense of perspective. I think the second works real well with the stuff at the bottom

@38mm Thanks Jase. I appreciate the feedback and a different perspective on it.

all three look good. I'd only remove the big one in the top picture that is touching her knee.

For some reason I love the first one...she looks like a dancer or high wire act. The processing gives it a vintage look, a capture of another time and place!

@tigervolleyball @cheribug @httpgeffed Thanks all. Colleen, I think that's my favourite too and I really like the idea of just removing the one touching her knee. (anyone?) Gives the perspective Jase was talking about but cleans it up enough.

what camera have you took them on, they look like video stills. I agree with Jase, leave them in, it's real life, if it was publication in a magazine in an article about jumping children you'd have to take them out, but for your own pleasure - who takes landmarks out of photos?

@chewyteeth I just have a point and shoot. Sony Cybershot. I did a little editting in picmonkey. I ended up leaving the background in for 365 but might use the one with it out for printing. Just wanted to see how it looked.

@edie
can you force flash on that camera, because when you're shooting into the bright sky like this it automatically darkens your subject, if you try to set your flash on constant and not auto which I think you will be able to you will 'fill-in' flash on the subject too and get it all exposed.

@chewyteeth Thanks Dave. Yes, I can set it to off, on or auto. I was playing with it a little yesterday but pretty sure it was off for this shot. I plan to try again at least once so will use the flash.

the clone tool mentioned can be done in picmonkey - a free website, you can easily upload a photo and work on it, then save again. It is really worth experimenting.
