Where is the fuzz coming from?

May 10th, 2012
I'm sure one of your camera brainiacs will be able to help me solve this mystery. I'm playing with a pinhole lens for my 7D. See the fuzz on the lower right corner? What is it and how do I get rid of it?

When I put a real lens back on the body, it's not there. When I rotate the pinhole lens, the fuzz stays in the same position, so it's not in the aperture hole (which I didn't think made sense anyway with the focus being so sharp).

Any ideas? Thanks for taking the time to look!

If you look at it closely Michelle, I am pretty sure it is the outline of a stealth car, facing left. I would get rid of all evidence of this photo before Big Brother comes knocking.

It looks like a hair?

Let me think this it loud.

It only appears on ne of your lens and in the same spot no matter when you rotate the lens. My first thought is that it s on the glass that meets the camera as this glass doesn't move, or it is in the lens body.

I would check the glass and see if you can see anything. Take it off the camera and point it at a white bit of paper that is bright and look through the glass. Can you see anythng

@agima The "lens" where it appears is a homemade pinhole lens, so there's no glass. But when I look through the hole through a magnifying glass, it's clean.

I think it must be on the sensor...? I'm going to try to peek at it tonight to see if I can see a hair on there.

Thanks to @abirkill @humphreyhippo confirming my suspicion, I have fixed it! It was on the sensor. I had already tried using my "puffer" in the body, but this time I *carefully* lifted the mirror and *gently* puffed on the edge of the center. I never did see the hair, but it's gone now.

Problem solved! Thanks!
