I'm going on holiday soon and would like to have a small camera to keep in my pocket when I don't have my SLR on me. I am toying with Canon Powershot A4000 and the IXUS 125 HS. Does anyone have any experiences with these? I have a Canon G9 but it is not pocket size so would like something as close in quality as possible without spending too much.
I have a Canon Powershot A560 which was a gift, so it is what it is. It does take great pictures so I'm thinking that the A4000 is a few (quite a few!) notches up from mine. It probably takes excellent pictures!
I was very happy with my Canon Elph100HS -- until the lens refused to retract. Sometimes the pictures amazed me; other times they weren't so great, but that was probably my fault. It's very small and light, easy to carry and unobtrusive for candid street shots. I replaced it with an Elph110HS which I don't like quite as well. Don't know why.
I have a Nikon AW100 and it is great. Takes pretty good macro shots, is waterproof, tough and can be used in temperatures much colder than many other cameras.
Here are a few of the shots taken with it. I have also taken some landscape shots with storm clouds, used it in the rain and taken it for a swim too :)
Happy shopping!!
