Okay, I have seen some amazing shots of Bokeh and I have done a discussion before asking how to do bokeh, which all of you were helpful, but when I did it, I was not happy with the results. Plus I have seen some people have like a cup and then bokeh coming out of the cup and I want to know how to do that. I have also seen bokeh shapes. So I am asking for your help, please explain how you get some great shots of bokeh!!! Thanks everyone in advance for you thoughts, comments and feel free to post your own bokeh photos, I would love to see them :)
Ps: here are some examples of what I want to try and capture:

I don't know for sure but I would guess the one with the cup and bokeh coming out of it is done with string lights. If not, it may be able to be done with them.

Oh I miss that crowd as well...but at least I don't have to clean the monitor every morning after laughing so hard that I spit my cup of tea!!!
@chelseap92 Hi Chelsea! The way I see it, bokeh is just lights (or spots of light) out of focus... I did a couple of shots over Christmas last year when I had the tree up, this one is the simplest, you can see I focused on the glass of mulled wine (one of the good things about winter) in front of the tree, so the lights were peeping over the top.
If you can line something up, and shoot out of focus, a bokeh shot isn't hard! :) Have fun experimenting
@blahblahblah Here in the US October is anti-bullying month. If you don't like the thread, just ignore it. Don't make people on the site afraid to ask questions.
@egad - I'm inclined to agree, @blahblahblah that's a fairly unproductive, and unnecessary answer to a genuine question @chelseap92 even says she's read other threads.
@chelseap92 if I've read threads or articles and still am not sure, as @nancyperry said - youtube is a great visual reference so you can see it being done.
Thanks Chelsea for including one of mine up there! I'm sure you've received some great explanations already, but here is what I did with this shot.
I lit some fairy lights that I have on decorator twigs in a vase (any small christmas tree lights would work really well), set my aperture really wide as I didn't have much room, set the spanner up closer to the camera on a stool and focused on the spanner. I did this in a dimmed room too, and shone a torch on the spanner to brighten it up a bit.
Bokeh is essentially out of focus lights. It works really well with a narrower aperture too (say f16) as it gives you hexagonal shaped bokeh depending on your lens. Its a bit of fun to play with :) Good luck!
@aleksandra- thank you so much for your help and again great photo. I have gotten some good advise so I will have to go and play around, but thanks for the advise, it means a lot to me. :)
@blahblahblah I didn't realise that you could find these helpful tips on the site until another member mentioned bokeh. Thank you for sharing your knowledge - it is really helpful.

@happypat If someone can't work it out from the countless threads already I suspect another one isn't going to help.
ha ha...good one Aaron, very quick!!!
Shades of @jasehoad starting to show. Where's @grecican's contribution? @beautifulthing? @sdpace? Nuts... ;)

I just sold this one recently.
