This video is fascinating for film lovers on what can be done with silver and light. It is a tad long, but completely worth seeing the finished product.
Minute 4:30 to about 5:30 is completely meaningful to what I feel with photography some days.
@grizzlysghost I found a weekend seminar here in Philadelphia and it was quite expensive and the warnings for chemical usage may actually scare me off a bit. I guess I will just stick with my darkroom class for now.
@chewyteeth@phillyphotos@grizzlysghost haven't had time to look at this video but will later. Doing a course on wet plate, tintypes etc is definitely on my list of things to do. There is a camp in New York, seminars in Denver but have also found a seminar in Aust later in year.
Today, keep fingers, crossed plant to develop my first rolls of film, and then it this goes well start developing 4x5.
man I dislike Holga, I shot 3 rolls through one and it did nothing for me, two rolls through the Diana too...couldn't get into it at all. Its not like I need controls, its just that after seeing all the hype and all the cross processed slide film of cute girls in Prague that Lomo always seems to post every time there's a mention of holga. And the phone apps!!! and all I got was straight cheap-lens pictures with no major flaws and colour alterations. Hard to not have motion blur hand held I found too. Man now I hear holga I feel a bit sick. Do you get much out of it?
@chewyteeth I must have gotten the one perfect holga that has no light leaks, pretty much a clear lens and no scratching of the film. I was a bit let down until I discovered that I could shoot double exposures or shoot four photos with only 3/4 turns to get cool panoramas. Other than that I really find that after my summer class I put it on the shelf and have not thought about using it until this morning.
@phillyphotos That was utterly inspiring, thanks for posting.
Camera building is definitely on my agenda, all it would take would be some workshop time for myself. Collodion is seriously daunting though, the health and safety law implications in the UK are worrying, for all that it may very well be the ultimate photographic medium. But 10x8 film: I'm up for that one day, definitely.
thats it.....
the same guy was hired by Lomo to make wetplates in a holga and they were amazing you should check out that video.
