I have to take a High & Low Key image for a photography course im doing so i was wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks for this kind of thing? Or if anyone has any samples of photos id love to see them!
@jase_h Thanks Jase - i guess my issue with this is that not all the photos labeled High or Low Key will be technically correct, but thanks for the links, ive been trawling through the photos!
No worries, at least somewhere to start :) Flickr is often better for looking for particular genres, as there are specific dedicated groups with discussions as well.
I've not done many, but I like to get into a darkened room, or outside, get a light you can move around your subject (I use a £10 headtorch), fix the camera (e.g. tripod if you're in low light), and a remote shutter release (cost about £2)...
Alternatively, just use a light that is really bright 'relative' to the rest of the scene, (e.g a really bright torch or light in a dim room) then reduce your cameras exposure in a manual mode to compensate. Here's a couple I took one straight out of camera the other had a little exposure tweaking.
