How do I clean the lens of my point and shoot?

February 27th, 2013
I was trying some bubble photography earlier, and my p&s lens got bubble solution on it. I tried to rub it off with my shirt, but that didn't work all too well and seemed like it might be a bad idea. So, how do I clean the lens? Thank you so much!

maybe find lens cleaner, if that's a thing: here is a URL that might help http://photography.about.com/od/photographyequipment/a/LensCare.htm

Yes, I agree with Cupcake, get a proper lens cleaning solution and cloth specifically intended for photographic use. I work for a large camera manufacturer and we get a lot of cameras in for repair with lenses damaged by cleaning. All lenses (even on point-and-shoot cameras) have a special coating which is easily removed if you use the wrong cleaner. Once the coating has been damaged, the lens is permanently ruined. Many point-and-shoots have plastic lenses, not glass, so you have to be super careful with those. Use a puffer/blower to remove dust from the lens before you apply the solution, or you will scratch the lens. Do it in a room where there is likely to be less dust in the atmosphere, like a bathroom. Good luck.

Try a spudz cleaning cloth they are best. Use optical grade cleaning wipe. Go gentle and use caution. Allow any solution to dry off before shutting the camera down.

Thank you all for your help! I really appreciate it.
@kjarn, I ordered a LensPEN, and it seems to have done the trick the first time at least. Thanks for the suggestion!
