I thought I'd share this for People wanting to do different colored light painting photography. I myself do not have a place where I can buy gels for light painting and I didn't want to have to order them off line so I been looking online for diy color gels for light painting and found nothing. Then today I found myself in the party isle at hobby lobby I was looking at balloons for a picture idea I have in mind then it hit me! I should put these over my flashlights I thought I wonder if it would work... I was a tad bit hesitant but I bought them anyway it cost me $2.49 for a bag of 25 tho I'm sure you can get these cheaper at Walmart. I waited for it to get dark turned out the lights and tried it. and to my surprise it worked! I'm sure someone else has done this but I haven't found anything online for it. All you need is balloons, small led flashlights and rubber bands (or in my case hair ties Lol) here is a picture:
@lynnb yes it does! I'm not sure how the pastels and stuff would turn out but I'm sure they'd turn out just as well. I got the bright colored ones (as you can see) I figured they would give me the maximum effect for colors. I can't wait to get other colors :)
Oh great idea!! :) I did a colored light painting thing once but I used my mobile with one of those multicolored flashlight apps. This looks a lot easier!
@onie I got my lights at big lots three for five dollars! :) they sell them by themselves also and I think I seen some at Walmart but I can't remember.
@onie
@pizzaboy
Thank you for this great tip. I didn't think of it before!
I've used a cat laser toy but it just does red.

Also, try it with a flashlight that has a strobe/flashing setting. It turns out pretty neat, too!
