I am now on the verge of pulling my hair out (and for those of you who have witnessed my selfies you will know that is quite a feat!).
I know my camera (Canon EOS 1100d) is capable of 3fps burst and does so well in sports mode but I can't for the life of me get it to do more than 1fps in manual/Tv modes.
I have changed all the settings I can think of, turned off high ISO noise reduction and the auto correct image brightness and contrast feature, selected jpeg format and switched to continuous shooting. I am using a class 10 SD card and as I said earlier, it does 3fps just fine in sports mode so I guess I am missing something but for all my searching on google I can't find it so I turn to the awesome 365 community.
Please help... for the sake of my small amount of remaining hair! =P
Are you shooting JPEG or Raw? Here is what one pundit says...
With Jpegs, the burst mode is stuck at three frames per second (the Pentax K-x, for example, is 50 % faster). For Raw shots, the burst mode drops to under one frame per second and the photo-to-photo turnaround time doubles and becomes noticeable
i may be misunderstanding your question or over-simplifying things - are you just asking what buttons to push on your camera to get it to do this? isn't it on the left button on the sorta circular dial on the back? or is that only getting you continuous shooting and not the FPS?
Thanks for the suggestions guys... I am looking for which setting will allow me to achieve the fastest possible fps @northy. The AF is already set to AI servo @soren, I should have mentioned that lol. I have already turned off the high ISO noise reduction @kporte. Thanks again though, it's good to know I am heading in the right direction :-) Any more thoughts?
@steampowered Lol... I am actually saving up as we speak... just got past the quarter way mark though. It has bugged me for a while that it doesn't do what it's supposed to... I suppose that it's probably too late to go back tot he retailer nearly a year later though....
I figured it out eventually... after scrolling through the custom functions for the thousandth time I noticed that long exposure noise reduction was set to auto.... turned it off and hey presto. I still need my upgrade but for now the camera I have does what it says on the tin! =P
@steampowered Lol... I am feeling pretty pleased with myself now... all of a sudden I have the urge to try again for that elusive collision water drop shot! =)
@steampowered I was thinking of manual drops and trying different intervals and then doing it high speed continuous instead of the long exposure method. Besides that I was hoping luck might be on my side... I have gotten really close before but now I can shoot 3fps instead of 1 I figure my chances are improved! =P
