I'm asking for a new camera for Christmas because mine is old (Kodak EasyShare CX7430...4mega pixels!) and broken. My mom isn't going to spend thousands of dollars on a camera for me... I'd be shocked if she's willing to spend $150. I asked for the Nikon Coolpix s4000. Due to the budget issue would that be a good choice? Is there something better for the same price($129) or less?
*edit*
i just found this website digitalcamera-hq which has led me to believe that for $10 more i could get the Panasonic Lumix FH20 which would be way better than the Nikon(which btw i forgot to mention I only wanted because it's a touchscreen)
i have to stop researching! i found out i can get the fh22(same thing but has a touchscreen) for the same price. i'm scared i'll break it though...and you just said it's less user-friendly and fiddly. siiiigh now i want it instead! but i'm probably going to listen to you and not get it since you obviously (judging by your photos) know more than me about cameras and photography
I'd suggest the Canon Powershot series. I just upgraded my camera, but I've had my powershot for a few years now. It's been beaten up so much, but it still takes great pictures.
I am a founding member and past president of PABC (Please Anything But Canon) HOWEVER, I do enjoy the powershot, on a budget, dollar for dollar they are great... don't worry about MP or anything gimmicky like touchscreen or front LCD screens. And if you can wait a couple more days on boxing days online sales like futureshops boxing days says I bought my wife her canon for under $100
I have lumix and am new with my photos and having some trouble. But someone told me one time, it is the person and their skill level. Someone who is very good can pick up a throw away camera and get a great pic. I tend to believe them. That is why I am still trying lol. Very slow process for me. I am afraid. So I think my camera is good, It is me who is not yet.
