How I did it

February 26th, 2011
someone asked how I did this so I thought I would share.

I used a clear glass pitcher of water & baby oil. I set the pitcher with a beach towel hanging a foot or so behind it (that's where the color comes from).
I shot the baby oil into the water, that's where the tons of bubbles on the right come from, & in the left is where the bubbles were floating back to the surface.
I had my camera mounted on a tripod & used a remote trigger. I had my 50 mm lens on with a close up x2 filter on it to get a tad closer.
I Had a combo of natural light, a desk lamp hanging a few feet over the top of the pitcher & a camera top flash.
In edit I did a bit pf cropping & adjusted the contrast & exposure just a tad to get rid of a tiny but of wash out in the pic. But that was it.

I had fun with this!

Cool photo. I'm wondering how you "shot" the oil. ...oh, perhaps the bottle itself was squeezable with a nozzle?

Cool. Love the ideas and how the oil bubbles picked up the beach towel design.

@pfmandeville The top had one of those smaller openings in the center to control the flow so I tipped it over the pitcher & squeezed so it shot down into the water & bubbled back up.
