System Error (Zoom)

March 2nd, 2011
I haven't really had the time lately to take pictures. So, I decided to just walk around and take pictures during break at school. However, once I turned my camera on, the lens was unable to focus and it displayed an error message declaring: System Error (Zoom). I looked it up online and tried the following methods:
- I used a blow dryer (on a cool setting) around the lens barrel. The air can supposedly get rid of the dirt and debris.
- I took out my battery and put it back in and turned it on.
- I took a thin strip of paper and inserted it within the lens barrel and swiped in a 360 degree motion.
- I pointed the camera lens down, turned it on, and tapped the outside of the lens barrel with a pencil as the lens tried to focus.
- I laid the camera flat on a table and pressed and held the shutter button while I turned on the camera.

None of these methods were useful. I don't really see anything stuck in the lens barrel.
My camera is a Panasonic Lumix point and shoot. Panasonic Lumix FZ100, to be exact. Here's a link so you know what kind of a camera I'm dealing with:

I have only had it for six months and I don't think I have a warranty.
Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.

@idonotsqueak - most cameras have a 12 month manufacturer's waranty to cover for problems (not accidental damgage normally). Try looking on the panasonic website for help.

Six months should be under warranty, but as a last resort...
