I wanted to change the filter of my camera and I can't take it off, I've tried pulling it because one of my friend said to pull it but it won't loosen up. I wanted to clean the lens so bad but I don't know how since the filter is still in tact. Any idea how I can remove the filter?
It unscrews. If you have one of those gripping jar openers, use that. I keep one in my camera bag. It's flat and usually round or square. Not sure where you are or whether you have those there.
I've had lenses that have the filter on so tight it's really hard to get off. small pair of pliers can help, rock it back and forth left and right sometimes will wiggle it loose.
you shouldn't have to take the UV filter off to use another filter. The UV filter has a filter factor of 1x, therefore it won't effect another filter like a polarizer. You should be able to screw a filter on top of a filter. Always keep the UV on to protect your lens. If you want to take it off, it should unscrew to the left.
@iamdzeyem I haven't looked further into it yet but the first thing I read when I got my camera was to get a filter wrench and get it before it gets stuck! LOL. Needless to say, mine is stuck on there right now too.
I keep one of those produce rubber bands on my camera or in the camera bag all the time to get my filters off. It is handy, free(if you buy some veggies like asparagus or something) and resuable, easily replaceable, etc etc etc. If that doesn't work get a filter wrench. If you use pliers, use a rubber band to pad the camera so you don't scratch up something!
