What to do...

I only have a small canon powershot. It's great, I love it. But sometimes I feel as if my pictures are repetitive and I really don't know what to do to spice them up.

So are there any ideas or themes for those of us with regular cameras and no photoshop? :D

Look for something interesting and different about your subjects. I walk through my house or yard at times when I am looking for something different. My favorite strategy is to look at a familiar subject from a different angle. I have also experimented by taking pictures of a subject at different times of day to see how the light differs. I hope these ideas help.

Piknic allows you some editing for free being a member of this site.
Why not set yourself a challenge, some people are working through the alphabet for example. If you look at the "tag" SOOC that will be pictures like yours that are straight out of the camera without editing.
Lastly keep looking through others work at every opportunity, they inspire me and hopefully can you too, just changing an angle, using different light, even shining a lamp from different angles gives you different effects.
Good luck.

Picassa offers some pretty user friendly tools for free. I use that pretty often to adjust color and occassionally contrast.

Brittany, I have both a DSLR and a canon powershot, and i think the powershot can take great pics too! and i think what @daisy said is true...it's more about looking for something interesting or different. try unusual angles and experiment with locations, light, different objects etc. one of my own favorite pictures from my project was taken with my powershot.

What I do a lot is I go outside and make myself stay in one small area of my yard (small as in like two square feet). Doing this forces me to look at things from different ways and pay more attention to details. Maybe you could try doing that :-)

I am not that good yet, but I get ideas from looking at others work and of course changing it up so it is not exactly the same. That way I can learn how to do it. 365 people will also help you so much.

SImple abstract things! :) You would be surprised at what you can take a picture of that looks interesting once you get it uploaded. Also, get close to your subject! Random things make for interesting photos. :)

Hope this helps a little.
