Water prints?

July 22nd, 2011
I've noticed that many people put water print signatures on their photos. Should they be necessary? and how would I be able to put one on my photos, if I wanted to?

they are not strictly necessary (there are ways and means of cloning them out of a picture anyway) what they do do is give your photos an added identity (sort of acting like advertising) as being your property there are a number of ways of adding a watermark, the majority of photo processing software has somewhere in it a watermark option and there are many online editing suites that have watermarking too (just google "watermark photos") If you have a seperate logo you can paste it as a new screen layer, it just depends on how you want your finished photo to look. Many people think that the watermark takes away from the picture and many think it enhances the shot but in the end the choice is yours

Yes you can edit them out if you are good but that is also illegal to do according to new laws. So the watermark has essentially become a protection for your assets just as much as the copyright symbol is. I only put them on my good photos that i dont want people to use but then I also have the original edits without the watermark that i save should someone want to purchase one.
