I have been doing the 365 Project for about 2 months, and now I am way more into it then I was before.. and I realized, I only have about 6 followers?! What are some good ways to get followers? I think my pictures are fine. I just want people to see them more!
I went over to look at your photos. I agree with what the others have said but also you might like to put a little about yourself in your profile. I'm always interested to know where in the world the person has taken the pictures, are they at college or have a family, what type of pictures they like to take, etc. Just helps folk get to know you a bit and get a feel for your pictures. Hope that helps. :-)
My advice.
-Check out Browse Feature with New Faces and Latest and follow the people who have work you like, want to try or are similar to your style.
-Commenton photos as their posted, people really like to hear feedback. I personally am thankful for every single person who takes the time to comment on my photos.
- Participate in themes, challenges, discussions, Browse and Picks, Critique This, Your favorite photo. People will start to see you.
- Look for people in your geographic area, there are excellent people to follow in my area (I searched by our city name and found those who tagged a lot). Post a request for a meetup.
- You seem like you are younger than I am so if you are still in school, find others on this project in school so you can make some connections.
- Once again Follow, Comment, Share, Challenge
- Also if there is a photo you really like, want to try, or a technique you want to learn, make the photo a fav and then ask the person about it.
- On choosing who to follow, I do consider that if they have 500 followers and follow 120, they may not be able to take you on right now. It is not that they do not appreciate you, but many here take time to comment on the photos of each person they follow, some comment on photos of who comments on theirs.
- My theory is that you get out what you put into 365.
@laurendoubleu Also as an example Cherrill and I both adore a photographer on here and the lovely photos she takes. We ended up following each other based on conversations on how we could try and do photos like that. @Cherrill
@brumbe Wow, that means a lot to me that you would spend the time to type all of that for me! Haha, thank you. Those are all really great ideas. I will try some of those! Thanks again!
When I started 365 I would use the popular page and the latest pages as a starting point. When I found a picture I really liked, I followed that person and started leaving comments. Some followed back, but the ones with larger amounts of followers usually didn't. As time has gone by, I've weeded some of them out because of that. If I'm going to take time to look at someone's picture and leave a comment, I would want the same from them. Getting involved in the discussions and challenges has also added some great followers to my list and I'm always honored when someone chooses to follow me. I love the feedback and generally follow them as well.
@laurendoubleu I can feel you there. I would like more followers and I try to look through the Recent pictures and comment on those that stand out to me. I don't want to beg, but I'm putting a lot of work into my project and appreciate having those who comment back.
