Picnik vs Photoshop Elements

I've been using Picnik pro for editing. I like it but I decided to try the free 30 day download of Photoshop Elements. I am really enjoying it after playing around for a few days. It has been a little harder to figure out some of the effects, but once I get better at Photoshop it will give me better results.

I just wanted to give this comparison for any other newbies like me who might be curious.

Here is a picture I edited in Picnik:

And then with Photoshop Elements:

I hope this helps someone!

Woah, that difference is astounding! There's a bit of a price difference too, though?

I got Photoshop Elements with a student discount. Still expensive, but well worth every penny if you're going to take many photos. This is coming from someone who is seriously broke financially. :)

I love using Photoshop Elements, expensive but great effects. His face and the colors really brighten up in the second one.

I just downloaded the Lightroom 30 trial and it's soooo much better than picnik! (of course) Anyone know the difference between Elements and Lightroom?

@shutterbugger - I've not tried either (I use GIMP and UFRAW for "proper" editing) but I think you can edit raw files in Lightroom.

That certainly does look better after PS Elements. Maybe I can save up for it!

PS Elements has several tools that Lightroom does not. I, however, use both. Elements is a bit daunting to begin with, but once you play around with it and begin to figure things out, it doesn't seem so intimidating. If I were to choose between Lightroom and Picnik, I'd choose Lightroom hands down. If I had to choose between Lightroom and Elements, I'd choose Elements because of the additional tools and effects. You can get a student version of Lightroom for around $79(US) from Amazon if Elements is too pricey.
