That was interesting. I hadn't heard of the ISO sweet spot myth before.

Kinda funny - the viewfinder blackout isn't because of light leaks, it because light through the viewfinder will throw off the cameras metering in really low light situations. And it can be significant. I've seen the meter be off by 4+ stops without the viewfinder blacked out

I've never heard of most of these.

@manek43509 I've heard of almost all of them except the native ISO one and assumed they were true. Glad to know what I really need to worry about.

@sudweeks I've never heard of that. When composing even a low light shot I'm still looking through the viewfinder and blocking light. But when you run a 30 minute shot, the concept of light leaking in through the viewfinder makes sense, but if he can't reproduce it, I'm not going to worry about it.

Overall I thought of these more as "Best Practices" and not hard rules, but I guess I might need to change that.

@mallocarray - I often use an ND1000 filter which blocks 10 stops worth of light. So there is a significant amount of light coming in through the viewfinder relative to the amount of light coming in from the lens.

Another thing that's odd about this is the two cameras they used for the native ISO test have a native ISO of 100 not 200 as he stated. It would have been better to use a D700 and 5D Mark II for this test.
