Near the Jachthuis St. Hubertus in the national parc Hoge Veluwe as from today the large pond was safe enough to ice skate (last night -21C=-6F!!). They swept a track of I think 800 meters and because you have to pay to enter the parc and it's not close to larger cities, it was still quiet. I went there with my daughters (we have an annual pass) and skated over 2 hours. The first time of my life. So great to skate in beautiful nature!

We used to skate on ponds, which meant shovels and brooms to clear paths when it snowed. Otherwise, the ice would be ruined for the rest of winter. This is a really lovely park!
@moirab@gark and all the other ones: thank you. In the sun it was about minus 7 degrees. There was no wind, and with winter clothes it was not cold at all
