At Omarama just south of Twizel are the Clay Cliffs. I had never even heard of these before but they were certainly well worth a visit. They were apparently used as the location for the Valley of the Dead in the Lord of the Rings films. At this point the fog had mostly cleared but a small amount wafted over the front of the cliffs as we walked up to them. This is what is giving these the hazy look - not a lack of focusing! I also loved the rosehips in the foreground that are giving a rich red colour.
