Catch of the day!! The fisherman is in the next photo. It was a group of three young lads hoping to catch some fish for their dinner. This octopus managed to get itself unhooked and disappeared pretty quickly. This was taken at the wharf at Port William on the Rakiura track, Stewart Island.
Oh, this is cool! It looks like a matte effect you've used to process? I love whatever it is, gives a sense of mystery. And the rings of ripples...wow. fav
@eudora Thanks Diane :-) @carolbird I probably should have had my UV filter on, but all I did was increase contrast so he showed up a bit. Thanks for your lovely comment. @not_left_handed It was really fabulous to see - so exciting. @novab haha yes indeed. @maggiemae I once saw a small octopus while fishing, but have never seen one this big - apart from when I was snorkelling in Galapagos. @fbailey so am I, the young chap had no intention of pulling him in, but it was good he got away by himself. @littleconnie True! @thrumylenz Thank you. @jgpittenger Yes such a magnificent creature! @hrs Once I pulled up a really small one. I was just a kid, and can remember it suckering onto the side of our little aluminium dinghy. @robz Thanks Rob, it was really cool to see it.
