Kakariki by dkbarnett

Kakariki

On Somes Island in the Wellington Harbour there were lots of Kakariki as they have been successfully re-introduced to the island since the eradication of pests. They were mostly fairly distantly flying and hard to photograph, but this one I heard chattering in the bush and managed to locate it with my camera through the trees. They are such pretty birds with their red heads.
Lovely focus on the eye :)
