Layers of time

It would be fascinating to hear a geologist talk about the layers of time. This is a shot of part of the cliff face on the north Taranaki coastline. The small round rocks on the ledge have been formed over the centuries by concretion around some kind of nucleus (or so I was told!).
Wonderful detail and fascinating rock formations.

This is so impressive - the yellow streaks (sulphur?) just add the final touch.

Just wondering what those round shapes on the ledge are ..
Rocks, pods or dinosaur eggs ?
