Low Tide on the Back River by dmariewms

Low Tide on the Back River

Not the most impressive of titles, but I drew a blank. I walked all the way out to the end of Grandview, and dune access was open so I could cross over to the river side. The ridge to the left is the normal high tide mark. Stay tuned for a pic from the bay side. It was fantastic to be all alone out there. I wasn't the first, though... someone had walked through earlier.
awesome shot

Cool!! That sounds like an amazing time. I like how it feels like you could walk forever in this shot.

@olivetreeann @kim11472 what is actually funny about it is that I was pointed back towards the city at this point. If you look at the line of trees starting from the right and work inwards, the lone structure above the tree line is a water tower, and the dark area just behind the sand bars is an old duck blind. If you face the other way you see the buildings of Haywood Seafood. Nature Preserves inside metropolitan areas are a little strange. I think it is the lack of mechanical sound that makes the solitude and helps the mind filter out the structures.

@dmariewms How about that! Yes, I keep forgetting that your nature walks are within a city because so often they have the feel of the exact opposite!

Love how far you can see in every direction - seems to be light years away from the city

This is wonderful. I love the emptiness of the scene and it's hard to imagine you are in a city :)
