Summer Memory #47: The Greatest of These is Love 1Corinthians 13:13

This is a picture of my grandmother (mam-ma) and also a peice of paper I took off her refrigerator after she passed away. I now keep it by my bathroom mirror so I can see it everyday. She must have kept the Bible verse on the fridge door as a daily reminder and it IS the perfect example of how she lived her life. She was so full of love for everyone. I never saw her angry or rude...she was always patient and kind. She was an amazing Christian woman and a wonderful example to others on how to live with faith--even when life is rough! I love the picture of her in the bluebonnets--I can hear her laughing as she laid down in the flowers. :) When life gets me down, or I have tough deciions to make, I often think how Mam-ma would handle it--what advice would she have for me? I know that if I remember what love is, like she did, and live my life with the strong faith she believed in, that my life will be as blessed as hers and hopefully one day I will be an example for my kids and grandkids too....

*** Trevor and Miranda are spending the night with me tonight...nice having them here!! I wish Addie was here too!! I can't wait until the 29th when they are back for good (except addie won't be here, but I dont want to think about that right now)****
Della, this is so special. I love the photo of your Mam-ma and I love seeing her handwriting on the piece of paper with the scripture. How meaningful. Your words are precious. Thank you so much for sharing your heart.

Thanks for that wonderful story. I too love personal momentos like that. I have my Grandmother's two Bibles and I cherish the handwritten notes she kept in her Bible. She would sit on her bed listening to the old fashion radio preachers, and she would take notes in church.

It is in our memories that those that were dear to us are kept alive for ever, and the good memories grow to epic proportions and the few bad ones sink to insignificance.

How wonderful that your memories of your grandmother are treasured and that her example is one you can strive for. It's what one generation should be to another, so stay the course, and your kids will come to see you've living a good example for them, too.

Oh, Della, this is such a special post. Thank you as we all need reminders such as this. Your grandmother sounds like a really special person. How wonderful to have her as a role model. And that photo of her lying is the bluebonnets is just priceless!

Re - my train photo today...I got the shot b/c I have a *driver* this week...makes a big difference...getting spoiled...sometimes maybe I could get such a shot on my own but the thought of having to park my car, get out and walk down the tracks by myself...all the while feeling kid of silly doing it, makes me miss some good shots so that's why this week has been such fun!

I love this picture of your grandmother. She must have had a great sense of humor to go and lay in the bluebonnets & get her pic taken. I'm sure when she wrote down those verses she had no idea how that piece of paper would out survive her and then be seen by so many people via the Internet. We just never know what "little" things we do that people will remember us by.
