Rice

As predicted, the weather has been awful today. I got soaked to the skin doing the school/nursery run this morning and am about to go and brave the elements again. So no new photos. This was taken at a market in Cambodia, where I was drawn to the different kinds of rice on sale. The script also fascinated me. Apparently it's really difficult for children to learn to write it, so increasingly they are learning English. The English teaching in the school we visited was very mechanistic though.
A lovely display and interesting to read about the schools.

Lovely interesting capture. Would love to try the Jasmine Rice! I hear that the weather is set to be pretty horrid over the next couple of weeks?

What an interesting collection. I quite fancy the idea of red jasmine rice. Another great story to go with the photo.

Never knew there were so many different types of rice. That script does look extremely tricky.

I have loved your holiday photos. Not commented on as many as I would have liked due to time but very much have enjoyed them.

I was interested to see Sue Perkins having a try at harvesting rice on TV. - very hard! You have captured the texture of the rice well. All K coul dwork out from the script is that the adjective appears to follow the noun. And lIke Chinese with little pictogams?

wonderful find! I would imagine the script would be difficult to read, thought the English was for the tourists.

That is very intricate script. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for the children to learn how to write.
