11.14 Line up

Quite a mundane subject, but I couldn't resist the grayscale... IMHO, a superb performance by my Goldie-Oldie pair, the Leica III and Summar 50mm

better on black
Beautifully done -- oh, do tell about your Leica III and Summar 50mm! You have me curious

@jyokota :-) I gave it myself as a present when my novel "I fantasmi dell'impero" was accepted by the publisher Sellerio. It appears as photographic gear of one of the main characters of the novel, a young lieutenant of the Italian Army in Ethiopia in 1937, very fond of photography, who manages to purchase one, ex-demo, in the Florence Leica retail shop. I made a lot of researches to write and then to purchase that very same model: a 1934 Leica III with an early 1935 Summar 50mm f:2. You know, the difference between men and boys...

W-O-W !!!!! I could have never anticipated such a cool answer to my question! I only wish I could read Italian. Is there an English translation? Do you ever publish books for children and adolescents (my field)? I go to Bologna Bookfair every year but it's all children's books. SO COOL that you purchased the same camera as your character, having done all the research.

@jyokota I have to admit that this novel "I fantasmi dell'impero" is my first book ever. A nice present for my 50th birthday actually... Though since it is working reasonably well on the Italian market, our publisher is trying to find an English language publisher to disseminate it abroad, practically since it was released (23 February, this year). For the time being, no English translation, sadly... I have a sci-fi project, very personal, very ambitious, that could be fit for a young public, but honestly don't know if I will ever complete it ;-) Please, let me know when you will be again in Bologna, it would be lovely to meet you there (it's a two hours train ride from Rome)!

This looks like it came straight out of the latest multi-magap[ixel digital marvel - very impressive.

@domenicododaro -- in all seriousness, I did a machine translation of your storyline as presented by your publisher and I am intrigued by your perspective. And, I love their analysis: "A book of extraordinary visual power." I am in Bologna again from March 22 - 29, 2018, but I am there every year around that time for the bookfair. I have only been to Rome twice but hope to get back again soon! A science fiction project? Intrigued,

@vignouse I confess I am impressed as well! Thank you a lot
@jyokota I'm humbled, thank you for your interest. I will do my best to arrange a visit to Bologna for the bookfair, next year! Maybe I'll tell you more about the science fiction project!
