Hectic couple of months. Honestly.
However, prompted by Louis A. Sousa (@pickerandagrinner) I and Joy Sabin (@joysabin) did a film swap. I was excited receiving a roll of Kodak Ektar 100 exposed by Joy in Flagstaff, to load it in my camera and double-expose it.
Pure fun.
@vignouse Well, now I really want to know. I think I will go and check out where @joysabin lives :) I was thinking Domenico was in a city environment rather than the country.
@kali66 thank you, Kali. I think I will shamelessly post a great deal of these... @bella_ss@vignouse it is great fun! Plenty of possibilities and big surprises! Yes, the car is an old Fiat 500 (early 70s) I photographed in Rome at night while the old ruins are somewhere near Flagstaff, AR, photographed in full daylight by Joy. And yes, I own a little farm in Sardinia, but no ruins on my place... hopefully for a long time, as I have just finished building my house!
This is so cool! I love the comforting ghostly feel. When ever I am out near the ancient dwellings I try to envision the souls of those who created and lived among them. This collection of buildings in called Lomaki Pueblo which are in the Sunset Crater National Monument.
@blueberry1222 I was there once, back in 1997... @helenhall Thank you very much! @joysabin I agree: many places give me the same feeling. One of the most curious however, was the shore of the Colorado river down the Grand Canyon, where the Hopi dwelled. Always wondered what would they do down there, what in case of raising of the level of the river and so on... @bella_ss Thanks to you for your interest!
Great image, love this idea of how two worlds can collide in one image. So much contrast Day vs Night, Rural vs City, USA vs Europe, looking forward to seeing more.
Fascinating. So I assume this is film, and that you cannot see what you are double exposing onto on the original take, and that you only see when it has been processed? I agree with @leonbuys83 's comments here . . .
@jyokota Late in answering, my apologies. Yes, Joy exposed her roll of Ektar 100 in Arizona, while I was exposing a roll of Portra 160 in Rome, then we exchanged the exposed rolls and shot the entire roll again. We gave each other some general rules and wide indications about the content of the rolls, but without an excess of detail: surprise is key! @psychographer Thank you, and it is also a lot of fun!
@domenicododaro -- such an interesting idea. I have my father's old Canon camera that's film, but he died in 1974 so it's quite an old camera. I haven't used it yet.
