I read something once about this - when people who don't know each other are in a situation where there's not much physical space (eg on public transport), they create space by avoiding eye contact, neutralising their facial expressions, and going inside themselves (if that makes sense). This image portrays that well. Fave.
Fabulous shot, I haven't yet been game enough to try one so close-up. You've certainly captured the public transport 'personal space' feeling very well.
@joysabin thank you. Do you think so? I see much more solitude than togetherness around. @helenhall I admit I shot from the hip, four or five frames slightly moving the camera. I was lucky to get what I wanted. @chikadnz it is very much so. I thank you very much! @golftragic too kind of you, as I said this was shot from the hip... @taffy thank you very much, Taffy!
@pistache thank you very much! @vignouse oh I hope so for him 😉... Salvatore Quasimodo, one of the greatest Italian poets from the XX century wrote this little poem (my apologies to his memory for daring to translate it): “Everyone’s alone on Earth’s very heart / pierced by a ray of the sun. / And suddenly it’s night.” Well, I think he said it all.
