Ok, let's admit: I messed it up completely.
Back in the darkroom after ages, last Sunday. With a bunch of 4x5 in. film sheets.
Expired since about 10 years.
And some developer, stopping bath and fixer - sealed bottles but they had expired as well, about 10 years ago.
I had these shots taken last summer with the Linhof Technikardan and mainly the Fujinon-L 210mm f:5,6 - substantially the "nifty two hundred and ten" for the 4x5 format.
Surprisingly, some of them came out: "only", I mismanaged the film - leaving some awful fingerprints - as well as the developing tank, leaving some dirt and other marks on the emulsion.
So what, it's its charm, after all. And I am in awe of the tones: this is a plain scan of the film with factory setting, so I would candidate it for the nf-sooc September, shouldn't I?
So you have a darkroom and are still developing with fixer and stop bath? That's great! I did that too. Many years ago, I built a camera obscura and fabricated quite nice photos.
the finger marks add a bit of texture ... just love the feel of this ... not sure i can explain it, but it takes me back to the kinds of shots my dear dad used to take when i was little ... something so hopeful about that light on the water
@leonbuys83 thank you, Leon! Anyone would be able: just follow the instructions leaflets! @jerome I donated my enlarger to a photography school this year. For the film, little is needed. Only, I had forgotten how delicate are the 4x5 sheets. I got better results with the 35mm rolls... @kali66 thank you, Kali! @helenhall you mean: there’s something visible behind the thumb marks? Lol - thank you! @pistache thank you, Clare! I sometime feel like Walter Matthau playing the role of a rich brides’ hunter in “A new leaf”: “I’ve revived customs that were dead before I was born...” @golftragic I must remember to wear gloves before I commit the next crime, I fear... now I could be instantly recognized worldwide lol!
Yes you can tag it with a clear conscience! ! Your experience must have told you that the chemicals would have been well past their best? What the...! There's no formula for charm and this has it in spades! Fav
@graemestevens thank you, Graeme! @ricos_escape thanks a lot! @yrhenwr oh yes, I added extra time to developing bath to get something out the film, but somehow I messed up with the stop/fixer. Thank you for you encouragement. I’ll post some more and I’ll go out again with the TK!
