Pages of the Sea

A portrait of a War Hero is drawn on the sand of Weymouth Beach as part of Danny Boyle's Pages of the Sea project for the Centary of the Armistice. This event took places on beaches around the country, a different hero on each one. Weymouth's was Private Stanley Robert McDougall VC, an Australian soldier, chosen because the town was home to so many ANZAC troops in WW1, all so far from home. Really you needed a higher viewpoint to appreciate the portrait properly - have seen some great drone photos but I don't have one of those!
A lovely capture. I think the sand portraits were the most poignant images of yesterday's tributes.

What a lovely idea and a great tribute.
