2015 February 18: Here in north Alabama we had a mild beginning to February ...high temperatures were around 60 degrees F., and skies were cloudy on Groundhog Day. Today, however, was very cold and windy with snow flurries all day.
This little darkeyed junco perched for a few minutes on our deck trying to shelter from the wind and falling snow, but his feathers kept getting ruffled from the strong gusts.
Poor little guy!! We didn't get any snow or ice here in Mid West GA. but boy did we get the cold and worst tonight they say!! With wind chill it got down into the single digits early this morning!! Two days ago, like you, we were in the high 60's!! I put out extra food for the birds and squirrels and brought our outside dog, inside!! He thinks he's pretty special when he gets to stay in the house all day and night!! Wish I could let all the little birds in too!! This little guy looks pretty cold!!! Absolutely love the background on this photo and those are some mean looking icicles!!! FAV!
Thanks, @Jenn Gillis, @David Gillis, @Kathy, @Gayle Sears, and @Dianna Coile! We had slightly warmer weather today, but rain fell all day long and the cold is expected to return tonight. @Kathy, I hope that your dog and your birds -- and you! -- stay warm! I am sure that the birds and squirrels appreciate the extra food.
