2015 June 19: We have two butterfly bushes (Buddleja davidii, also known as summer lilac); one has white blooms, while the other has dark purple. Both emit an intriguing aroma that reminds me of cotton candy ...I enjoy passing by them all summer long and smelling the wonderfully sweet scent!
This year our dark purple (Black Knight) blooms opened first ...The white bush is also filled with blooms and should be opening any day now also. So far I haven't noticed any significant amount of butterflies on either bush, but in the near future they will both be swarming with migrating Monarch butterflies. Each autumn it is an awesome sight; I am already looking forward to seeing it!
