2016.01.22 Friday: A heavy rain fell all morning, and then turned into snow in the early afternoon. It quickly accumulated and made a beautiful scene as far as the eye could see!
Despite the falling snow, there was a constant flurry of activity at our backyard feeders again today. At times there was standing-room-only as the birds waited for their turn at the feeder!
By late afternoon Emergency Management began shutting down overpasses in my town; shortly after sundown they declared all roads in my area impassable. The snow accumulation wasn't that much, but in this area whenever there is winter precipitation the roads become coated with black ice ...an especially dangerous situation because the roads look fine but aren't!
Happily, all of my family got home safely before the roads were declared closed! We had a wonderful evening eating a warm supper in our cozy home ...We are blessed!
These are really beautiful birds shots - I particularly like the cute one in the bottom right corner with the little flash of yellow above his eye. Pleased you're all safe and sound.
Such a lovely collage....the birds were happy for their feast I am sure. Great shots I love the detail in the feathers of the birds. Glad everyone made it home safely and there is something to be said for sharing a warm meal inside with family... when the snow falls outside.
