Big Peach Water Tower by dsp2

Big Peach Water Tower

2016.12.08 Thursday: The Big Peach Water Tower is located in Clanton, Alabama ...It is one of the landmarks that we always notice when traveling between north Alabama and Pensacola, Florida. For us, it means that we are around halfway there whenever we travel this route!

The water tower is 120 feet tall, and holds 500,000 gallons of water; it is well visible from the interstate. Without water, the weight of the tank is 349,000 pounds; when water is added, the weight adds another 4,186,000 pounds to the tank. It is built to withstand 100 MPH winds.

It is an interesting and pretty sight!

A real beauty!!

It's certainly a fun way to decorate a water tower- but I would think this would be in Georgia, not Alabama! They did a good job on the painting there- it looks quite realistic for a water tower!
