2016.12.31 Saturday: I hope that all of my 365 Friends had a wonderful New Year's Eve, and will enjoy a blessed, healthy, and prosperous New Year!
We had a very nice day for the last of 2016: We were blessed with a steady rain (after months of drought, we have come to recognize what a blessing rain can be!); we were blessed to enjoy good party food; and our favorite college football team won their bowl game and will now get to play in the upcoming National Championship Game soon.
It is our family tradition for everyone who is around on New Year's Eve to take Communion together, praying for a healthy and blessed new year. We took Communion earlier in the evening this year, so four of us happened to be together for this tradition.
We do not drink many alcoholic beverages, as none of us like the taste of any ...but this year a friend had given us a small bottle of wine that was supposed to be especially good. We decided to use this in our Communion, but soon regretted that decision as we found that it tasted like cough syrup to each of us! However, we all joked about it and enjoyed even this mishap together :).
Happily, we had only poured a small amount, the taste of which was easily erased by some apple-pomegranate juice! I am certain now that we are going to be blessed with joy and peace in the coming year!
