Surprise Mushrooms by dsp2

Surprise Mushrooms

2017.11.15 Wednesday: During decades of growing houseplants, I have never had mushrooms sprout in one before ...so it was quite a surprise to see these growing at the base of my schefflera.

I researched online, and found that either the plant had been raised outdoors at some point (I bought it from our botanical gardens, so that is a possibility), or the moisture-retaining potting soil that I used may have had mushroom spores in it.

Either way, I took several pics before removing the mushrooms and relocating them to the outdoors.
You transplanted the mushrooms!

Great close-up! I had the exact same thing happen this summer! In a houseplant I’ve been growing for years, little tiny mushrooms popped up. I always watered the plant with tapwater; but the week before the mushrooms appeared, I had watered it with bottled water (which made me hesitant to drink that brand of bottled water in the future)! Thank you for your commentary. I now feel more comfortable drinking the bottled water :)
