Seedheads by dulciknit

Seedheads

I went to Waterperry Gardens today for a walk round. It's been a while since I was last there but then it's hardly been the weather.

Apart from a tiny crop I haven't done anything to this

Thank you very much for taking the time to look in/comment. It's much appreciated :-)

Not globe thistle as those are round. See http://www.theseedbasket.com/?attachment_id=534

They might be one of the Cirsium family, but I couldn't find any good photos of the seed heads. This wasn't too bad. http://www.gapphotos.com/imagedetails.asp?imageno=263356

The scales and delicacy are more like catananche caerulea though.

Lovely pic, whatever they are!

@bigsusan55 Thank you. :-)
I've deleted the bit about the globe thistle, silly me, should have remembered! These are about 6' tall and the heads are bigger than my fist. The main stems bear thorns and the flowers are purple and configured like a thistle flower.

So definitely a thistle of some sort. Very slender stems for the usual ones. Not circium rivulare as that hasn't got thorns.

Alison, this is a beautiful shot. It is so focused and clear. The depth of field is beautiful with the background blurred which makes the seeds stand out that much more. Nice photo!
