I went to Waterperry gardens today because I fancied something pretty to take photos of. Don't know that this counts as pretty but I love organic shapes against strong, architectural looking geometry. The background's a bench in the gardens.
The focus on the flower isn't what I would have wished for but I was standing on tiptoe in an effort to get the flower framed in one of the arches on the bench, so it's hardly surprising it's a bit off. Oh to be four or five inches taller!
Critique welcome. Veteran 365er, 2011 vintage. Only posting occasionally and irregularly now.
I'm an abstract photography enthusiast but not exclusively so.

You'll have to invest in some platform heels! Nevertheless, it's an interesting composition. I like the smooth curves of the arches contrasting with the withered flower.
Wonderful composition. The background fencing adds a lot of interest. I like how you have processed it to emphasize the contrast between the foreground and background elements. Nice to see a flower in this stage of life, too. Not just the young ones should get all the glory!
You have really been putting on a show lately with such wonderful variety to your pictures. Like the color of the flower in front of the black and what and the more distinct lines in front of the gentle curves. Makes for quite an interesting photo.
The flower certainly has a faded beauty, quite sad looking. The bench soft focus as a background is a nice contrast, interesting and great shape, but doesn't take away from the flower. Yes I wish I had been a little taller many times!
@sangwann@riverlandphotos Thank you. I can't take credit for the sc. The bench was white and is up against a yew hedge (naturally dark) and in a dark part of a garden room. I don't know if it's just my monitor but on large view I can just about see the green of the hedge round the lines of the bench.
