@phil_howcroft thank you, Phil. This gives no idea of size and we don't tend to think of nuts and bolts as being very big but this isn't a macro shot. It is in fact a detail of this beautiful beastie : https://www.mbeam.org/engine
You can't see which part from the photos on the website and I don't have the vocabulary/knowledge to explain where it is, unfortunately.

@dulciknit thanks alison, you are right about the macro bit :) We have a Victorian steam pumping station just down the road from us in Papplewick. so I know how big those bolts are :)

@phil_howcroft Oooh, I've heard about Papplewick! I hope we get to go there one day; Lester (my husband) and I are both big fans of these wonderful steam engines.

@dulciknit we had a camera club access all areas photoshoot about 5 years ago at Papplewick. It's very impressive on it;s steam days :)

Nice. Like the metallic feel throughout. More engineering than abstract tho' I think.
