Yay! After a year of planning and waiting, the big day is finally here, and it did not disappoint. My sister Katie
@mcdougall and her fiancé Mike got married. It was a fantastic day. In the morning, we went to my parents’ house to eat, chat and get ready. Around 3:00, the ladies all jumped into the limo and headed out to the chapel. The setting was gorgeous. The idyllic New England chapel is nestled in the rolling hills, surrounded by gorgeous foliage and was filled with family and friends from all over the world to celebrate this amazing occasion.
I personally have been worried for about a year now as to how my 21 month old son was going to do as ring bearer. Well, he was fantastic. He wore his full tux including the bow tie, his adorable page boy hat, and we completed the outfit with a pair of black Chuck Taylors and some argyle socks that matched the colors of the wedding. When it came time for him to walk down the aisle, I gave him the pillow and asked him to follow his cousins who were the flower girls. He did for about 4 pews, and then looked back and said “Mama”. I told him to turn around to follow the girls and asked him to give the pillow to Daddy (we have been practicing that for two months now). To my surprise and extreme delight, he turned around, looked around the chapel, spotted my husband and ran all the way down the aisle and handed him the pillow. It was such a cute moment, and he even got some applause.
My sister J. and I walked down the aisle, and then, my dad and sister Katie entered. The music started playing and after a few seconds, everyone recognized that she was walking down the aisle to the Rocky theme. When my dad gave her away to Mike, my dad and Mike pretended to punch each other rather than shake hands and everyone just relaxed and enjoyed the ceremony.
Then, it was time to party! There was wonderful dinner followed by an amazing party. The band was fantastic and all of the guests really enjoyed themselves. My husband and I looked around at one point, and almost every single guest was on the dance floor. Mike even grabbed a guitar and played a couple of songs with them. What a wonderful, magical day, and the most important part was how cute the two of them were and how you could just see how happy they make each other. [SOOC]
