M doesn't like to make mistakes, so it has always been difficult to get him interested in drawing and writing. He would always ask someone else to draw things for him never really caring to try it for himself. Recently though, he has taken an interest in it, and tonight was the first night that I made a suggestion to draw a picture of something (a car), and he did it! Then, I really challenged him and asked him to write car, and he did that!
He was so proud of himself and kept repeating "This is my first car I drew! It is a carrot car!" He has been watching and reading Richard Scarry lately. My heart swelled with pride.
