Learning to row

Part of summer rowing camp is the new boys who are starting high school, coming out to camp and getting involved. Lessons start on land, but it was so hot that the coach decided to put them in the water, and had the older boys hold the scull still while the newbies practiced their strokes. The were a number of very tired lads by supper time!
Camp is great. What excellent memories being forged. Nice shot.

Thanks, Eleanor - you're out shooting people swimming in the water and I've a lamp post at night in the snow! Something isn't fair here lol

This is cool! It's so nice to see people out enjoying beautiful weather. We just got 10" of snow dumped on us last night.

@willprentice @melissapike Funny - I look at all the snow pictures and think "How lucky they are ... we never see that range to climatic conditions" :)

Wonderful shot of them!

I remember those days! When I coached we use to have the rookie flip the boat in the water and try to get back into it.

Great shot. Love to see the older kids be mentors for the younger ones. This is what made camp so fun.

....and having a lot of fun.

@cirasj Joe - you would have enjoyed the sight this morning. There was quite a storng wind so the crews only practiced close to shore. The rookies were not allowed out, but told to come an watch. And then it happened... the 1st 4x hit a series of bigger waves, and ...sank! The new boys had eyes the size of saucers!

looks fun.

@eleanor That is bad weather. We have tried many times to flip a 4x but could never do it.
