Armistice Day. by elizabeth

Armistice Day.

Just cleaned Dad's Second World War medals which I'll wear on Sunday. Remembering many relatives and friends today as well as the thirty six members of my parish who lost their lives in the two world wars.
We had a Rememberance Day (as we call it) ceremony at my school today. We focussed on the soldier friend of a staff member who was killed in Afghanistan two months ago. It really brought the consequences of war home to the children.

That's an excellent shot and nice to have the personal background and tribute to you dad.. I'm trying to collect these shots AND stories under themes and competion: 'Honouring the brave'. I want to send a link to the Royal British Legion, so do add this if you feel inclined.

OK - I have put that in now but so you can join in other threads here's how you do it:
If you look to the right of your comments below your picture, below the date and below the details, you will see a title 'share'. In the box below that is a code, which you highlight right to the end and cut and then paste it wherever you want to within an allocated area.
It can be a little hesitant to highlight the whole code. My knack is to when highlighting the text, slow down for the last 3-4 characters and then push on very rapidly on the last character. Hope that helps.

Beautiful photo and tribute. Today I read a story to 4th graders called The Wall by Eve Bunting, about the Viet Nam Memorial in Washington DC. The whole class was silent when i finished, moved by the sacrifice so many have made.
