A Rock Drop

This was yesterday's excitement!

A good hike up Brown Tongue to be above the helicopter then the photo-op. as 60 tons of rocks were delivered to strengthen the popular route from Wasdale to Scafell.

Each bag contains 1 ton which is sufficient for 3 metres of path!

I don't think of this when I see the helicopters fly over. Nice (though noisy) to capture this.

Just a footnote ...I was talking to the professional in charge who told me that this operation and the subsequent laying of the path is totally funded by public donation.

@ellida How brilliant that there is enough public donation to achieve it. I have walked on tracks like this and although they are quite hard on the ankles as they are so uneven, they are a godsend in the wet instead of the mud below.
