photo 232
I found these Treasure's in my Dad's Attic..actually my neice found them and brought them to me the day before i was leaving N.Y. ...she said " Aunt Ellen i hope you dont get mad at me but i took these for you when everyone eles was taking stuff from the house and I knew that you would love and care for them the most"!! Now how could i get mad about that!! I hugged her neck so hard i think i might have choked her!!
I am using this as my selfless selfie today because this best represents my love for photography, antiques and anything that holds memories!!
O.K, for those interested in the Make/Modles shown the top right is a Polaroid SX70 Land Camera Modle 3 with in camera flash, the one top Left is a Kodac XL Movie Camera and the one on the bottom left is the Polaroid 101 Automatic Land Camera with Flash Attachment! Bottom Right is the Kodac Camera Caddy and The bottom Box is my Dads old Rollerskating box with Stickers on it dating back to 1940's..Nope..No Skates Inside!! :( ..I even got a Larger Carrying Case for the Polaroid 101 that still had an unopend package of 3000 Speed Black and White Film 107 and a package of Sylvania Bulbs for the flash!!! I still need to clean it all up and get batteries for them as one of them still has film left inside the camera! So as you can see photography has always been a big part of my life and always will be.
Thank you all for your views, comments and fav's...They are greatly appreciated..Im Not feeling much better today but i have to be better by tomorrow as i have a Photo Shoot of the Harley Ride for Cancer! xxoo :)

@lyoungs1023@sharritta Thank you Elizabeth and Sharon..I know i was not sure what she ment by me being mad at her..as she led me down to her car to surprise me! ..It was like our little secreat! Little do they know i could walk away with just these camera's and be totally happy! There wasnt anything left in the house when i got there..they just left the attic for me to clean out and I cleaned and painted the whole house by myself! I just want to keep the great memories and move on ...Life is to short ...
Ellen, that is just great that your niece thought of you and your love for photography. . .now you have those treasures of your dad's. I love the vintage look of this.
What a sweet and thoughtful niece you have! This is just perfect..and perfect for your selfie!! Such a wonderful treasure to find! Also, what a wonderful event to share your talent at! Your photo shoot sounds fun! I can't wait to see your shots!
I know you will treasure them! and treasure that niece. I am always amazed when I hear stories like yours about what happens after a funeral...or sometimes even before. But you have your values intact...hooray for you!
How wonderful of your niece to bring these to you to have, Ellen. My Dad has a collection of old cameras but passed away in 1998. I asked my Mom about them but she wants to keep them, not sure why but her choice none the less. I was always the photographer and my Dad shared that passion. Maybe she will let me take a photo of them some day to post on here. Love this photo, Ellen. Enjoy your Dad's cameras. FAV Oh, and hope you are feeling better.
@deniseinindy@tommiel@michelleyoung Thank you all so much ..Hidden treasures are the best! And thank you for the heads up on the P.P. i would have never known! That ment alot to me...:)
@catsmeowb Hey Camille!~ Just saw your comment and thank you ..i am just feeling better today so i am guessing a stomach virus got me..i did eat a bit of Cantalope late week and then just saw on the internet that they are finding cantalope to be carrying the salmonella disease..i hope to God i didnt get that...Because when i did throw up all that came up was the melon!! Maybe God spared me the full blown disease that way..!!! sorry for the graphics but i was really surprised when i just read that about the melons tonight so beware of Melon's untill they give the All clear sign!!
Wow You Guys are Amazing!! I was just notified by @deniseinindy@tommiel that this picture made it to the popular page and i know it wasnt anything special that i had done! But because all of you who share my love for photography !!! I just wanted to make a special note to all of you who commented on my neice's thoughtfulness..you really dont know how much this touched me...all of your responses and her response means so much to me...So much more then you will ever know...I will share all of your sweet comments with her..Thanks again.
oh, that can be sooooo dangerous. i had not read that about melons and so glad you just told me that. was just about to go buy some, too, as have had a horrible craving for some. was just telling my husband i wanted to make a salad! we have a turtle and one of the things we have to be most careful about is not contracting salmonella from her when we clean her tank or handle her. apparently, they can be carriers although we have never, in all the years we have had her, had a problem. i think it is because they eat life fish and swim in warm water but am not sure. i do know we are not supposed to allow our grandchilren to handle her until they are five years old.
The battery for the sx is in the film pack you know? You'll have to get a fresher film pack and remove it in the dark and transfer the shots into the pack. Also the 101 discontinued I think in 1976 off the top of my head, and whilst the cameras worthless youre probably holding one of the last rolls of that film on the planet.
@chewyteeth thanks for all the info Dave! And no i did not know the battery was in the film pack !! lol..i did check on the worth of the 101 and did find it to be worthless like 10.00...oh well the use of the camera ( if it still works and the film can be processed ) is all that matters to me! the memories are worth it!
Ellen, this is beautiful, both in capture and in sentiment. So wonderful of your niece to save them for you. The cameras will hold so many memories, and keep a connection between you and your father. In a strange twist, I just found a Polaroid 420 in my basement. Was my wife's father's, who had passed away many years ago. They didn't even know it still existed till I found it in the basement this afternoon. A roll of unused film still inside. Hope like you to capture something with it. Fav.
@losthorizon Thank you beau! That is so special that you have found one too! Lets try them out and see what we get!! And thank you so much for the fav! :0)
@ellimae That sounds like a great idea. Just need to find film if what is in it doesn't work, and a battery. If you can, let me know if you get it working, and visa versa.
