St Mark's Tower & Batteria D’Orbeau by elza

St Mark's Tower & Batteria D’Orbeau

This is my first attempt at long exposure and without filters as I do not have any yet. The subject is St Mark's Tower which takes its name from the tiny bay which is to my right.

The Coast Road from St Andrews to Qawra has an uninterrupted chain of watchtowers erected by the Knights of Malta in the 1650s. Just at the back of the tower in the picture there is a very little known defence structure known as Batteria D’Orbeau also erected by the Order of St. John during the early 18th century. Grand Master Ramon Perellos had agreed with the recommendations of a group of French military engineers and built eleven such structures to strengthen the north-west shores.
This turned out quite nicely

Wonderful work! The smooth water has an almost other-worldly feel to it! Thanks for posting for the theme too. Would you mind if I put it in the thread as an example? OR would you do so?

@taffy thanks for your comment. It would be fine to put it in the thread. It would sure be faster :).

Lovely to see the tower in the distance with the interesting foreground.

A great looking blue sea. Looking forward to more images when you get your super stopper.
